Divine Word College of San Jose celebrates World Teachers’ and Staffs’ Day

The Divine Word College of San Jose students, faculty, and staff celebrated World Teachers’ and Staffs’ Day with the theme “The Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers” by holding a holy mass and a brief program at Fr.McSherry Gymnasium on October 5, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Fr. Felino B. Javines, Jr., SVD, DM, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, as well as Dean of Graduate School, presided over the holy eucharistic celebration concelebrated by other SVD Priests and Brothers. The Ministry of the Word and Ministry of the Altar Servers students danced to the song “Shine Jesus Shine” before concluding.

Following the holy mass, the masters of ceremonies, Kenneth Alvarado and Franchesca Dinglasan, led the short program. The event started with an opening prayer led by the Central Board Vice President Joellie Kate R. Dioso, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem.

CSC President Marlu M. Marigmen gave the opening remarks.

Following that, students from all levels performed dance numbers, and video greetings were played. Ela Marie H. Altayo from the grade school department sang ‘The Climb’ by Miley Cyrus, and Ronnie Padua Anacleto from the senior high school department delivered spoken poetry for the teachers.

The SCC Vice President, Dominica M. Bacorro, delivered the closing remarks. The closing prayer was led by the SACB President, Anya Mira S. Candava, followed by the singing of the DWCSJ hymn.

Furthermore, Festivities continued at the Seasons Hotel and Convention Center by teachers and employees, school administrators, and student council organizations.
