3 Nepali women escapes from strict Chinese employers in Laos to return home: Reports

Kathmandu, Nepal: Three women from Nepal left the country to work in Laos, Lalita, Juna and Rojita successfully managed to escape from their strict Chinese employers and returned to Nepal, but they still don’t feel safe, as per The Kathmandu Post.

According to the data shared by Asian News International (ANI), the three Nepali ladies were drawn to Laos by promises of free transportation as well as meals.

However, the ladies were instructed to use fake identities on social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and WhatsApp after reaching Laos, Asia.

They were asked to deceive affluent English-speaking individuals from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada as well as Australia. With only an hour break at 4:30 am, they were used to working from 11 pm to 10:30 am.

As per The Kathmandu Post, One of the three ladies, Lalita, cited that they felt confined. They were practising Buddhists and had never lied to anyone in their lives.

After the ladies refused to accept the terms of the employer, they were subjected to emotional torture. Eventually, they were able to leave the centre with the help of their family members and friends.

On December 21, they returned to their country and filed a First Investigation Report with the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal’s Police.

As a result, the police were able to detain two Chinese agents on December 22. Moreover, the two agents were Ruan Chaohong, 33, of Fujian and Chen Yang, 30, a permanent resident of Sichuan, China.

According to The Kathmandu Post, the two are currently held in judicial custody in the Central Jail in Sundhara.

However, since the two Chinese men in Nepal have been arrested in Nepal, the ladies have been getting threats to their lives.

The Kathmandu Post highlighted the statement of Lalita that though they managed to survive the place, the Chinese people are looking for them with the help of their agents, maybe as revenge since they believe they damaged their company by reporting to the police.

The Chinese call centre employees in Laos are still facing exploitation. Lalita mentioned that she is still in contact with them.

Lalita added to the statement that one of her Chinese friends informed her last week that four additional Nepalis had been hired. She worried about what could happen to them.

According to the representative for the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau, Malla, more than a dozen Nepalis are being held as a hostage at the Laos contact centre. He said they are still investigating, as well as trying their best to rescue them.

Furthermore, the husband of Lalita, Rajan, is still worried that the Chinese agents who deceived his wife can be released anytime. He asserted that they fear those Chinese may have connections with other Chinese as well as Nepali political leaders, and they could make their life difficult for them.
