Karachi: National Women & Workers front sworn in Oath Ceremony

Karachi, Pakistan: Swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected cabinet, as well as the flag unveiling of the National Students Federation, National Women Front and National Workers front Gilgit-Baltistan (Sindh Zone), took place in Karachi, Pakistan, on Sunday, January 8, 2023. 

A panel discussion was also held as a part of the event with the representatives of different student organisations all over the Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The eighth cabinet of the National Students Federation Gilgit-Baltistan Sindh zone as well as the first cabinet of the National Workers Front Sindh zone, took the oath. 

Azhar Uddin and Basharat Hussain Mehdvi were elected as the Presidents of the national fronts, respectively. Ghazala Nazir and Ali Ahmed Jan was selected as a representative to the fronts’ central executive committee.

Central Organizer of National Workers Front Gilgit-Baltistan Anayat Baig took oath from the newly elected cabinets. Moreover, he briefed the audience about the construction, structure, essence as well as future plan of the national fronts. 

He mentioned in the statement that the only alternative to get rid of the ongoing colonial oppression in Gilgit-Baltistan is the youth of the region, and a third political alternative consisting of youth leadership has now become inevitable

He also discussed in particular about, the national fronts’ ideology of “progressive patriotism”. Referring to the analytical paper written by the National Fronts, he highlighted that the youth should contribute to the construction of this new revolutionary force by being part of the fronts. 

In their presidential address, the newly elected presidents reiterated their commitment that the organization will be the front line of the struggle for the basic human rights of the individuals of Gilgit-Baltistan. 

He further outlined that the youth were looking for a new political alternative, and they had found an excellent platform in the form of these national fronts. The flag of the fronts was also formally unveiled in the ceremony. The flag consisting of black, red and blue colours with a white Polaris star in the centre, was unveiled at a formal ceremony, and a briefing was given on the flag’s colours, components and their meaning and philosophy.

Representatives of various students’ organizations from GB and AJK, including Balawaristan National Students Organization, Karakoram Students Organization, Jammu Kashmir Students Liberation Front, Baltistan Students Federation, and All Baltistan Moment, as well as others, have an interactive session on the political, social and economic future of Gilgit Baltistan in a panel discussion. 

The speakers appreciated the formation and consistent struggle of the NSF-GB and congratulated the newly elected cabinets of NSF & NWF. The speakers stated that there is a need to bridge the gaps in the political struggle of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir through credible political measures. 

The speakers strongly condemned the nefarious attempts to grab the lands of the local people as well as occupy the resources in the name of the Khalsa Sarkar in Gilgit-Baltistan, and warned the government of Pakistan that the results of such oppressive measures cannot be better in any case for any person. 

The land and resources of Gilgit-Baltistan will have to be recognized sooner or later as the right of the indigenous population. The speakers invited the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan living in other different cities of Pakistan to think about redressing the deprivations of the region along with their employment and education.
