Saint Lucia showcases its creative performance at Port Castries

On January 28, 2023, the Leon Hess Comprehensive School in Pan Side put on a show for cruise passengers at Port Castries. Ernest Hilaire, the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Industries in Saint Lucia, was there. This was a unique and cultural way to show visitors what the island has to offer regarding creative talents and the links between the creative industry and tourism.

As people got off their ships, they were greeted by the sweet sound of the bandstand, which played popular songs. Local drummers and solo artists took the stage on the Castries Market steps to play with the music. Visitors could taste Saint Lucia right in the middle of the city, showing off the island’s rich cultural history.

Minister Hilaire was happy to hear that young people are getting involved in the creative industries and that this is good for tourism. “It’s great to see our young creatives getting involved in our creative industries and tying it into the tourism sector,” he said. “Our young people are the future of our creative industries, so we need to help them develop their skills and give them chances to show them off on a global stage.”

In recent years, many more people have been coming to Saint Lucia, and the island has become a popular place for tourists worldwide. The island is known for its unique traditions, rich cultural history, and beautiful natural scenery. Adding creative talents and local music to the tourism experience makes the island more interesting and gives visitors a real taste of the island.

When people arrived in Port Castries, they could explore the island and learn about the culture there. They could go to different parts of the island, where friendly locals showed them around and gave them traditional Saint Lucian experiences. The visitors could also try local food, see the island’s natural beauty, and learn more about its rich cultural history.

The fact that the Leon Hess Comprehensive School in Pan Side and local musicians performed for the cruise visitors at Port Castries shows that the island is committed to promoting its rich cultural heritage and the links between the creative industry and tourism. Minister Hilaire’s support for young creatives and their participation in the creative industries is a good sign for the future of Saint Lucia’s tourism and creative industries. The island is likely to become a top place to visit for people who want to learn about a different culture uniquely.
