Weather Update: Steve Lyttle predicts a soggy New Year in Carolinas

United States: Steve Lyttle, former Charlotte Observer weather writer, shared the information on the weather in Carolinas, New Year was a soggy day, with rain falling much of the time.

He took to their official social media account and highlighted in the statement, “Earlier this week, it looked as if New Years Eve would be a soggy day, with rain falling much of the time in Carolinas. As is often the case, as we got closer to the date, and the rainfall actually arrived, it was much more scattered and a lot less than first thought. That is the case on New Years Eve 2022.”

Showers, indeed, are part of the reality today, but they’re much more scattered and lighter than earlier thought. People have to deal with off-and-on rain this afternoon (and even a rumble of thunder, possibly), but the showers should be gone by early evening. If people are planning to go out for New Years Eve, they will probably be able to avoid the rain in Carolinas.

He further outlined, “ONE CAUTION, HOWEVER … There’s a good chance that dense fog will develop tonight. That could be a problem for anyone on the road in the early-morning hours Sunday. Please be cautious tonight!!!”

TODAY: Overcast, with a shower from time to time. A rumble of thunder is also possible. Mild, with a high around 60.

TONIGHT: Cloudy, with dense fog developing in spots after 2 or 3 a.m. Low of 48.

NEW YEARS DAY: People will awaken to fog and low clouds, but some sunshine will break through by 10 or 11 a.m. The afternoon will be nice, and it will be quite mild for January 1, with a high of 63. If the clouds break earlier, people could get in the range of 66 or 67.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Low around 45.

MONDAY: An unseasonably mild day, with a mix of the sun as well as clouds and a high of 66.

MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy and mild. Low of 52.

TUESDAY: Becoming cloudy, with off-and-on showers arriving by late morning and continuing into the afternoon and night. Mild again, with a high near 65.

WEDNESDAY: Overcast, with off-and-on showers ending by late morning. A bit of sunshine is possible by late afternoon. It will be warm again, with a high of 66.

THURSDAY: A mix of sun and clouds and cooler — but still above average for early January, with a high of 58.

FRIDAY: Sunny with typical early-January temperatures. That means chilly, with a high near 50.
