Baloch National Movement holds London protest over missing activist

London: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Baloch National Movement (BNM) held a demonstration outside the London home of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to mark the 12th anniversary of the disappearance of Dr Deen Muhammad Baloch.

Not only the BNN workers but also other activists like Baloch Republican Party (BRP), World Sindhi Congress, and Baloch Human Rights Organization joined the protest.

During the protest, the President of BNN addressed the protestors by saying, “BNN was ready for a united struggle, and the Baloch Sindhi Forum is an example of this.” This protest is against the long 12-year enforced disappearance of our leader Dr Deen Muhammad Baloch. We all were and are struggling on one platform. One day, news came that Pakistani intelligence agencies had picked up Dr Deen Muhammad Baloch and disappeared.

Furthermore, he stated that the two BNN leaders, Ghafoor Baloch and Ramzan Baloch, have also been missing for more than ten years, same as student leader Zakir Majeed Baloch has been missing for 12 years.

He also said many Baloch and Sindhi political activists had been picked up and killed. And till now, 20-plus activists have been seized and disappeared this month. Those who come in front and speak about the atrocities are forcefully picked up and disappear. There is no freedom of expression or speech.

Rashid Hussain was deported to Pakistan from the United Arab Emirates. He has been missing for the last three years. Another issue affecting Baloch and Sindhi is China’s attack on Balochistan and Sindh in the form of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Residents in Gwadar are protesting for water and electricity”, said the Baloch leader.

Hakeen stated: “The Baloch have fought for Gwadar and will do that. Gwahram Nadil was seized on June 12, and on June 15, his family received a call to come and take Gwahram’s dead body. Similarly, they did a fake encounter with four missing Baloch residents in Bolan. The Pakistani army raped eleven-year-old Murad Ameer. We want to tell people that they are the taxpayers here, and they are the one who is helping Pakistan with their tax, and that is why I am saying that we should fight together against Pakistan.”

Samad Baloch of BHRC talked about unity in his address and said that the world should be aware of the oppression in Balochistan.

He also said that in this protest, our daughters and women suffer more in Balochistan and Pakistan. They are sitting on roads and crying because of Pakistan’s oppression.”

According to Dr Hidayat Bhutto of the World Sindhi Congress, Pakistan is committing similar acts of violence against both Baloch and Sindhi people. Furthermore, Dr Bhutto believes that Pakistan is involved in terrorist activities not only in Balochistan and Sindh but also in other parts of the world. Dr Bhutto claims that Pakistani-trained terrorists even come to the UK and cause terror. In light of this, Dr Bhutto suggests that the world should recognize Pakistan as a global threat.
