United States will invest $500 million in tourism sector of Manipur

The United States agreed to invest $500 million in Manipur. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated this on Friday at the B20 venue event in Imphal East district.

A company in the United States has formally committed to investing $500 million in the tourism sector, chief minister N Biren told reporters while leading the B20 delegates at the Ibudhou Marjing polo complex in Imphal.

The assurance was given when the chief minister and US delegates met and discussed on Thursday night following the B20 conference at the City Convention in Imphal, according to the CM.

Furthermore, the delegates from Argentina and Peru have asked the Manipur government for assistance in sending female health workers from the state.

According to the CM, a number of female nurses from Manipur are currently working in Japan under an agreement. N Biren also revealed that Argentina’s delegates expressed their concern about sports development programs, particularly footballers from Manipur, claiming that Manipur is India’s powerhouse.

The CM, who also has a planning portfolio, stated that his government has welcomed proposed US investment and has sent state health workers to Argentina and Peru.

When asked about other foreign investments proposed by other B20 delegates currently hosted in the state, the CM stated that the state is expecting significant investment from other representatives from various countries.

The three-day conference was the first of four scheduled in the North East. The B20 is the official G20 dialogue forum for the global business community, hosted by India & organised under the theme ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ by the Indian external affairs Ministry.

Representatives from Australia, Argentina, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Chad, Canada, China, France, Greece, Iceland, Japan, Nepal, Russia, Seychelles, South Africa, Switzerland, Singapore, Tunisia, Uganda, the United States, and the United Kingdom took part in the B20 conference.

In addition to these delegates, visiting dignitaries include 26 overseas business delegates and 24 diplomats, including ambassadors.
