The Indian Embassy in Canada told Global Affairs Canada they are concerned about Sikh separatists damaging a Hindu Gauri Shankar temple in Brampton, Greater Toronto. They also asked local law enforcement to take action against the people who did this. In Canada, the Indian’s concerns were sent to the government of Justin Trudeau today in the form of a note verbale.
The vandalism happened after so-called Khalistan separatists wrote hateful things on the Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple walls in Melbourne, Australia. The Indian Embassy in Australia took up the issue with the federal government. The same Sikh separatist groups have been active in the UK, Germany, and the US under the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) platform. They have been collecting money in local Gurudwaras by saying that the Sikh community in India has been hurt by things that don’t exist.
The Modi government and other governments, like the US, have taken the issue seriously. But the British and Canadian governments often use freedom of speech to justify violence and terror against the Indian community. The people in charge of national security strongly suspect that nothing is being done in response to the Sikh separatists; it is observed that they want to keep the Modi government on edge and make India look unpleasant by making minorities look like victims.
India has asked US national security to do something about the SFJ, but it has been clear that the UK and Canadian governments are not doing anything against these Sikh separatists. Given how many expensive properties these Sikh leaders own, it is clear that, at least in the UK and Canada, internal security agencies are turning a blind eye to these Sikh radicals as a long-term political pressure point against India.
I it is clear from a series of events, such as the BBC documentary on the Gujarat riots of 2002, that a political narrative is being built up in the name of “Modi government is anti-minorities.” The biased western media is also trying to make India’s western allies upset about the Modi government’s position on the Ukraine war and its decision to buy oil from Russia. These pressure points are being raised on purpose to bring India down, even though it has the world’s fastest-growing big economy and the UK has the world’s weakest big economy. India’s rise is going to be fiercely fought over by rival western and Asian powers, who will use the minority issue and India’s strategic freedom as weapons.
