Colourful Lion Dance welcomed Spectrum of the Seas on her port-of-call arrival in Hong Kong on August 04, where the vessel stayed overnight before continuing her journey to Keelung’s next destination. (12-night one-way trip – Singapore to Yokohama).

This time, the atmosphere is much more lively after the epidemic as Hong Kong is back on regular track to strengthen its position as an Asian cruise hub.

Operated by Royal Caribbean International, the Quantum Ultra-class ship will be returning to Hong Kong as a homeport operation in December 2024, offering eight voyages to Vietnam and Japan.

Back in 2021 October 14, lion dance performances celebrated the inaugural sailing where Spectrum of the Seas resumed her Seacation operation (High Seas) in HK during the pandemic with some mixed fortunes, which didn’t last long due to the strict restrictions.

Also, MSC Bellissima has confirmed to return to Waiwan next Summer, 2024, offering at least five round-trip cruises from Keelung. Being chartered in an effort together by eight local agencies, the 171,598 tons Meraviglia-class cruise ship will be homeport in the port of Keelung from 08 – 28 June 2024, operating on itineraries sailing to favourite port destinations in Japan and South Korea.

It still needs to be clarified on her deployment in July 2024 onwards. Most likely, she may extend her stay in Taiwan.

According to MSC Cruises, they view Taiwan as the second-largest cruise market in Asia. It has an excellent geographical location and remains optimistic for the local cruise tourism market, where the cruise line hopes to inject new business opportunities. MSC Bellissima is currently the largest cruise ship sailing in Asia now.
