Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister calls Imran Khan a terrorist

Islamabad: According to a report by Geo News, Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, stated during a press conference on Sunday that Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister and current chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is not a politician but a terrorist.

Aurangzeb further alleged that Khan’s residence in Zaman Park is a bunker for terrorists and a laboratory for petrol bombs. She claimed that Khan had become unhinged after losing power in April of last year and has now transformed from a politician to a terrorist who is attacking state institutions.

Additionally, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, expressed that it is the primary responsibility of the police to safeguard the courts, which are the upholders of justice. She warned that if the authority of the state, judiciary, and law enforcement agencies were to be undermined, it could lead to a civil war in the country.

Aurangzeb further argued that if Imran Khan was allowed to disregard the law, it would encourage the emergence of gangs, hooligans, and terrorists who would threaten the courts and police. She emphasized that granting concessions to such a person would not establish the rule of law in the country.

According to Geo News, the federal minister stated that a person had been summoned by the courts on August 23 last year but failed to appear. When the court ordered his arrest and appearance, he incited his supporters to attack the judiciary.

Marriyum Aurangzeb added that it was unprecedented in the country’s history for a criminal to be allowed to attend court from their car, referring to Imran Khan’s appearance at the Islamabad Judicial Complex yesterday, where the judge permitted him to mark attendance from his vehicle due to the violence inside the complex.

According to the PML-N leader, Imran Khan ruled the country for almost four years and imprisoned political opponents to take revenge. He even had the sisters and daughters of political opponents arrested, even from their hospital beds.

She also accused Khan of destroying the national economy, causing unemployment, and depriving people of necessities such as food. The prices of essential items like flour, sugar, cooking oil, electricity, and gas increased significantly during the PTI’s rule, affecting the common people.

As per the report in Geo News, the PML-N leader stated that when the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government came to power last year, they had the authority to arrest Imran Khan, but they didn’t want him to play the victim card.

This statement was made in response to the ongoing stand-off between party supporters and law enforcers outside Khan’s residence, where they were attempting to arrest him.

Additionally, The Express Tribune reported that a Pakistan court had canceled Khan’s arrest warrants in the Toshakhana case and postponed the hearing to March 30.
