Barbados: Footballer Nicoli Brathwaite sings contract with Romanian Division 3 football club

Barbados: Nicoli Brathwaite 22, a national footballer of Barbados, has signed a professional contract with Romanian Division 3 football club Progresul Ezeris.

Barbados Children Directory took to Facebook and extended greetings to Nicoli Brathwaite. It stated,”Congratulations to Nicoli Brathwaite 22, a national footballer, has signed a professional contract with Romanian Division 3 football club Progresul Ezeris.”

Brathwaite started his football journey playing for St. Martin’s Margrove Primary School in the BICO primary school league and he continued playing in the secondary school league when he entered The St. Michael School.

He played with Paradise Football club before joining Kickstart Football club where he played from under-11 to under-17 in local matches and he had he opportunity to travel with the club to compete in football tournaments.

A full-back or centre midfielder, Brathwaite has 11 senior caps for Barbados after making his debut on August 29, 2018 against Cuba.
In 2016 he was signed to Leyton Orient for one year at the under-16 level and on completion of that year, he returned to Barbados and secured his student visa before returning to England to continue school there while he continued to train with Leyton’s under-18 team and their first League 2 team for the next year.

Brathwaite then went on trial to a League 1 team, Charlton Athletic, which is two leagues below Premier League, where he played with the under-18 and under-23 teams.

He also went on trial with Southend United FC, a League 1 Club before taking up the offer with Progresul Ezeris. Best wishes to Nicoli.

Barbados Children Directory said that when the Frank Blackman zone of the Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic championships started last week, Shihab Juman of St. Winifred’s School was one of the shining stars.

“Juman prevailed in the under-15 boys high jump with a final height of 1.60 metres to take the gold medal and he was again in winner’s row when he won the junior boys’ 1500m in 5:00.63 minutes. Congrats to Juman and The St. Winifred’s Shoool, “said the directory.
