Dominica, a small island nation in the Caribbean, has been ranked first among TIME magazine’s 50 extraordinary travel destinations worldwide. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, who expressed his pride over Dominica being featured on the prestigious list. This is the first time the Commonwealth of Dominica has been featured on the list.

TIME magazine compiled the list by surveying nominations of places such as nations, regions, cities, and towns from its international network of contributors and correspondents with an eye toward those who offer new and exciting experiences. Dominica was the first destination due to its natural beauty, culture and wonders.

The resort has been opened after over 20 years of research, infrastructure building, environmental testing, and community engagement, ensuring the highest sustainability and development level.

The CEO/Director of Tourism at Discover Dominica, Colin Piper, said that this recognition from TIME and several other honours by Travel + Leisure, Lonely Planet, and CNN shows that the island of Dominica is a hidden gem.
