Florida: A man living in Charlotte County died after getting infected by the rare ‘Naegleria fowleri‘, the fatal brain-eating amoeba as reported by the sources.

As per the report, the Charlotte County health agency officials verified that the victim might have had his nose washed with contaminated tap- water with the Naegleria fowleri microorganism is responsible for this deadly infection. In regard to this, the Charlotte health department confirmed that the infected person had died, and officials continued to investigate the case last Thursday.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are only 0 to 5 cases of this infection in the country every year. Still, the mortality rate from this microorganism is over 97%, and only 4 out of 154 infected people survived this between 1962 and 2021 in the US.

As per the past cases of victims of fatal brain-eating amoeba and reports regarding that from 1962 to 2021, only 4 out of every 154 people in the US survived this fatal brain-eating amoeba infection. In addition, a boy died from getting infected after swimming in Lake Mead last year.’

The Florida Department of Health spokesperson Jae Williams voluntarily also provided some brief information regarding the fatal brain-eating amoeba and quoted, “Basically, you have to push water through your nose to contract this disease forcefully; it’s a very strange way to contract it, It’s common in fresh water, particularly stagnant water that heats up in the sun”.
