Jamaica: Businessman oversaw Morant Bay shop breaking operations in Morant Bay

In connection with two different incidents that occurred at Morant Bay in the parish between Thursday, March 30, and Friday, March 31, three St. Thomas males have been charged with shop breaking and theft.

Three people in St. Thomas—Richardo Miller, 20, of Land Top, Port Morant; Robert Napier, 22, a businessman of Prospect; and Khemar Wilson, 20, a student of Church Street in Morant Bay—have been charged.

At 7:50 pm on Thursday, March 30, a woman safely locked her place of business and left.

The grill had been removed, and the front door had been pried open, which led law enforcement to suspect that the business had been broken into when they were on patrol at 3:20 am the following morning.

Later, the company owner revealed that products had been taken.

Soon after the initial finding, a woman reported to the police that her place of business had been broken into. When the police arrived, it was revealed that the burglars had cut open seven-game boxes, removed the locks to gain entry, and fled with almost $500,000 in cash.

Napier was identified to the police by a witness who said he spoke to two individuals who had earlier headed in that direction.

He was caught, and it is said that he had tools for breaking into houses.

Napier was detained after being caught and is believed to have made a cautious statement to the police naming his now-co-accused.

Wilson handed himself in the day after Miller was detained on Saturday, April 1.

All three males were eventually charged, and they are scheduled to appear in court in St. Thomas Parish on Friday, April 14.
