Saint Lucia: Sprint star Julian Alfred to get diplomatic passport

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Global Sprint star and Olympic hopeful Julian Alfred LCA is set to receive a diplomatic passport of Saint Lucia and financial support from the Saint Lucian sports management to continue her journey in track and field. 

Born on June 10, 2001, the 21-year-old has broken numerous records and glorified the name of Saint Lucia during many sports events. Now she is set to get a diplomatic Saint Lucian passport to ease the visa process so she can travel without restriction and attend sports events outside the country. 

After graduating from the University of Texas this year, she still has access to excellent training opportunities. In 2015, Alfred moved to the University of Texas to pursue a bachelor’s degree and community studies.

Since Julien Alfred began her career as a sprinter, Saint Lucia and the world have witnessed her numerous remarkable achievements and record-breaking performances.

Following are the achievements of Julian Alfred accomplished during various sports events, glorifying the name of Saint Lucia on the global stage-

  • 100m record holder, in 10.81 seconds
  • 200m & 60m NCAA Women’s Division I Indoor Track & Field ChampionUSTFCCA Indoor Female Track Athlete of the Year  
  • 100m Commonwealth Games 
  • Texas Longhorns Track & Field/Cross Country

Speaking about her latest accomplishement, Julien Alfred runs wind-aided 10.72 to win women’s college 100m, Reigning NCAA Indoor 60 meters champion Julien Alfred produced an excellent performance to win the Women’s College 100 meters section at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational at the Percy Beard Track in Gainesville, Florida on Saturday 15th April.

The Saint Lucian Texas senior Alfred continued her stellar form this season with 10.72 seconds (2.4m/s) to win the Women’s College 100 meters ahead of Texas Tech’s Rosemary Chukwuma (10.85) and Ole Miss’s McKenzie Long (10.92).

The Commonwealth Games 100 meters silver medallist also ran a new personal best and Saint Lucian national record of 21.91 seconds to win the 200 meters on Friday 14th.
