Saint Lucia: Victim of Gros Islet shooting identified as Benjamin Emmanuel

Gros Islet, Saint Lucia: Benjamin Emmanuel has been identified as the fatal victim in last evening’s shooting in Gros Islet. Good Morning Saint Lucia- Vibes at Sunrise provided the above information through their official Facebook account. He is originally from Marigot and a past student of the VBSS (class of 2006).

Another victim injured in the shooting is being treated in hospital and is in stable condition, reported Rodney Bay Police Station. The Police have issued a warning against the perpetrators to stop violating rules and regulations and urged the residents of Saint Lucia to stay ware as gun violence has become a severe problem in the country.

Since the beginning of the year 2023, it was the 30th confirmed shooting death in Saint Lucia, bringing the homicide count to 30 in the first four months.

It was the latest incident recorded in the District of Gros Islet on Monday night. The Dead has been identified as Benjamin Emmanuel of Marigot. A second victim is in stable condition.

Two more reports of another shooting were received in different regions of Saint Lucia. One is from Cacoa Babonneau, and the second is from Balata Castries.

These shootings are explicit acts of defiance to call for peace and end gun violence. The Police claimed that they are working hard to bring an end to gun violence and maintain peace and order in the country.

In Balata Castries, a young man dies following a shooting on Monday night. The deceased is identified as Dante Maximin, alias “Mental Dun Dada”, one of two men shot in the vicinity of the community court.

The Police suggested the residents of Saint Lucia avoid going to the hot crime zones where crime incidents were primarily observed, especially after sunset. They encouraged the citizens to report immediately if someone observed anything suspicious. The Police department stated that a quick action can save the life of someone.
