Grenada Football Association appoints Terry Conner as Senior Men’s Head Coach

Saint George’s: Grenada: Grenada Football Association (GFA) officially announced that Terry Connor is the new Senior Men’s National Team Head Coach. He was welcomed to Grenada and formally introduced yesterday at a press conference at the GFA Secretariat.

Through its official Facebook account, Grenada Football Association informed that new Senior Men’s Head Coach Terry Connor had hit the ground running, holding his first training session with the team this evening at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium. The team is preparing for their Gold Cup prelims match against Guyana on June 17.

Terence Fitzroy Connor, a former professional football player from England, was born on November 9, 1962. After retiring from playing, Connor became a coach and worked as an assistant manager at Blackpool FC and now became the senior head coach of the Grenada Football Association.

Connor was born in Leeds and attended Foxwood School in Seacroft. During his career as a striker, he played for Leeds United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Portsmouth, Swansea City, and Bristol City, scoring a total of 91 goals in 358 games. Due to his playmaking and scoring capability, Connor gets the opportunity to represent the England under-21 team once.

The Grenada Football Association admired his vast experience of a 15-year playing career in Europe’s most challenging and number 1 ranked league. In his remarkable career of 15 years, Connor played for Leeds United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Swansea City and Bristol City as a Striker. He was also appointed England’s U21 team Captain in 1986.

Connor’s most significant achievement in his career was becoming the Head Coach and Manager for Wolverhampton Wanderers, leading the team to promotion from the Championship to the English Premier League. Additionally, he has coached other notable teams such as Blackpool FC, Cardiff City, Ipswich Town, and Bristol City.

Now he has moved from England to Grenada, and his primary objective is to prepare Grenada’s team for their upcoming match against Guyana by implementing some new tactics. He is anticipated to use some Premier League tactics to overcome Guyana.

The Grenada Football Association happily welcomed Terry Conner in Grenada and expressed heartfelt appreciation to Anthony Modeste, who served as Interim Head Coach of Grenada over the past few months. His service as a Coach and player is exemplary and well-known. He now reverts to his position as 1st Assistant Coach.
