San Juan, Puerto Rico: During a number of intelligence-driven anti-crime exercises this weekend, officers seized three firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, marijuana, and cocaine.
On Friday, April 28, 2023, at about 9 p.m., traffic and highway patrol officers from Barataria stopped a white Nissan AD Waggon with three male occupants on Cedar Hill Road in Claxton Bay as part of the first drill.
After searching the car, officers discovered one loaded Taurus pistol with five rounds of ammo hidden in the centre console.
Three Couva and Williamsville-based men, ages 30 to 35, were detained about the discovery. While this was happening, the North Eastern Division conducted an Operation Grand Slam exercise.
Officers from the Task Force were called to a complaint of a guy purportedly observed in San Juan taking another man to an ATM yesterday. The men then got into a blue Toyota Yaris car and drove to Jogie Road in San Juan.
The individual, who identified himself as the car’s owner, chatted with the officers as they drew near the vehicle. After searching the car, officers discovered a loaded Taurus pistol with a magazine loaded with 14 rounds of ammo. A 37-year-old San Juan resident who owned the vehicle was detained in connection with the discovery.
Officers from the Southern Division went to the Claxton Bay district yesterday after receiving information, and they discovered one handgun there.
Meanwhile, the following seizures and arrests in the Southern, Central, and Eastern Divisions removed significant amounts of marijuana from the streets:
On Friday, April 28, 2023, between 2 and 10 p.m., Task Force personnel in the Southern Division detained three suspects from Debe, Claxton Bay, and Fyzabad for possession of large amounts of marijuana.
Between 4 and 5 p.m. yesterday, officers from the Valencia Criminal Investigations Department and Patrol Unit went to an unoccupied property in the Eastern Division where they discovered 3.1 kg of marijuana and 1.3 kg of cocaine.
