Five in Five for Guyana Amazon Warriors, defeated Jamaica Tallawahs by 7 wickets

Georgetown, Guyana: Guyana Amazon Warriors remains undefeated for five matches and seals top spot in Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2023) point table with thirteen points. Today, they defeated Jamaica Talawhas by seven wickets with nine balls remaining.

The match was played at Georgetown, Guyana, the home ground of Guyana Amazon Warriors. The home team won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Romario Shephard, the Guyanese draw the first blood, dismissing the dominant English batsman Alex Hales. He tried to play a pull shot on a wicket-to-wicket delivery. The wrong timing didn’t bring the expected results for Hales.

Brandon completely missed the slow wicket-to-wicket ball. He departed at 77/3, laying a foundation for his side. After 20 overs, Jamaica Tallawahs scored 152 runs by losing five wickets. Guyana Amazon Warriors needed 153 runs to win the match.

Saim Ayub, Pakistan’s youngster, scored over half the target. He played a dominating innings of runs in 53 balls, hitting 5 fours and 5 sixes. Mathew Nandu scored a crucial 37 in 35, slow but needed, and defended his wicket against the Jamaican bowling attack, desperately looking for wicket.

Odean Smith finishes in style, scoring a boundary to finish the chase. The Guyana Amazon Warriors won the match by seven wickets with nine balls remaining.

It was a fifth consecutive win for the Guyanese team this season. The team played seven matches so far and won six of them, one with no result.
