Guyana Amazon Warriors defeat Trinbago Knight Riders by six wickets

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Amazon Warriors defeated Trinbago Knight Riders on their home ground by seven wickets with five balls remaining. With four consecutive wins, the team reached on top of the CPL point table, surpassing Saint Lucia Kings.

The match was played at Queen’s Park Oval, located in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, the home ground of Trinbago Knight Riders, successfully chasing the immense target of 173 runs. Completing the run chase with a boundary, the Warriors scored 175 runs by losing four wickets with six balls remaining.

Saim Ayub, the Pakistan-born 21-year-old youngster, remained the top scorer from Amazon Warriors’ side. He scored 62 runs in 43 balls, hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes.

Chandrapaul Hemraj, the Guyanese opening batsman, scored ten and dismissed by Andre Russell after a short delivery headed straight into the hands of Nicholas Pooran.

Shai Hope, the Barbadian, came to bat at number three, joined forces with Ayub and scored a fantastic knock of 51 runs in 40 balls, hitting 3 fours and 3 sixes.

Chadwick Walton, the substitute grabbed a difficult catch and sent the Barbadian back to pavilion. The ball went high in dark sky; Walton made no mistake and grabbed a good running catch.

Azam Khan and Shimron Hetmyer finish the job, leading their team towards another victory. The Guyanese got dismissed scoring 13, another catch and wicket for Nicolas Pooran and Ali Khan.

Azam Khan struck the final boundary and sealed victory for Amazon Warriors, contributing 29 runs in just 14 balls. In bowling, Odean Smith remains the most successful bowler from Warrior’s side, taking three wickets and suppressing Andre Russell, one of the most dominant batters in Caribbean.

Russel goes for a cut but fails to connect. Tahir felt like there was an edge on it and went upstairs for review. The official confirmed the spike and declared Russell out.
