Sunil Narine became the first player in CPL history to receive a red card during the match against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Today, during the match against SKN Patriots, the match official gave a red card to Sunil Narine as Trinbago Knight Riders were penalised for maintaining slow over rate.
It was the first-ever Red Card in CPL History. According to the new CPL rules, the fielding team will have to play with ten players in the last over of the innings if they maintain a slow over rate. Sunil Narine was, therefore, asked to leave the field.
Still, the Trinbago Knight Riders defeated SKN Patriots by six wickets with seventeen balls left. Winning the toss, TKR elected to bowl first. From SKN side, Sherfane Rutherford played astonishing innings and scored 62 runs in just 38 balls.
With a strike rate of 163.16, he dominated the TKR bowlers, hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes. Coming to bat at number five when SKN Patriots had lost four wickets, he gave a significant boost to his team, achieving a defending score.
Andre Fletcher, the Grenadian cricketer scored 32 runs in seventeen balls. He was the second top scorer from SKN side. After twenty overs, SKN Patriots scored 178 runs with the loss of five wickets.
Trinbago Knight Riders needed 179 runs in twenty overs. Nicholas Pooran, the Trinidadian, played dominating innings, scoring runs in 32 balls, hitting 5 fours and four sixes.
Captain Kieron Pollard faces just sixteen deliveries and hits five sixes. He scored 37 runs in just 16 balls, taking his team towards victory.
Locan Tucker also played a crucial innings for Trinbago Knight Riders. After early dismissal of openers, he and Nicholas Pooran collectively scored 93 runs. He contributed 36 runs in 31 balls.
Andre Russel finishes the job in style hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes, scoring 23 in just 8 balls. With seventeen balls remaining, Trinbago Warriors won the game by six wickets. They moved to rank four on CPL point table. SKN Patriots has dropped to last with four losses and one draw
