Raheem Cornwall’s 45 balls century made enormous run chase easy for Barbados Royals (won by 8 wickets)

Bridgetown, Barbados: Raheem Cornwall, the Antiguan giant, played a storming innings tonight, hitting a century in just 45 balls with a dazzling strike rate of 212.50; Cornwall scored 102 runs in 48 balls, hitting 4 fours and 12 sixes.

The immense hitting done by Cornwall made the enormous task of reaching the target (221) look easy. The Barbados Royals sealed the victory on first ball of the eighteenth over. Another win on home ground by eight wickets and 11 balls remaining.

St Kitts and Nevis has not been able to secure a single victory in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League 2023 season. Despite playing well and scoring impressive targets, the team has been unsuccessful in winning a game.

The SKN Patriots have lost all the matches they have played so far and are currently at the bottom of the CPL point table. Their next game is against the St. Lucia Kings, scheduled for September 9, 2023, at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in San Fernando, Trinidad & Tobago.

By winning the toss, SKN Patriots elected to bat first. The openers Andre Fletcher and Will Smeed provided an outstanding start for their team, forming a 119-run partnership for the first wicket, contributing 56 and 63 runs.

The SKN skipper, Sherfane Rutherford, dominated the Barbados’ bowlers. He scored 65 runs in just 27 balls, immensely hitting the ball for boundaries. He hit 5 fours and 5 sixes—the dominating batting with a strike rate of 240.74 made Rutherford the top scorer in his team.

In the first innings, SKN Patriots scored 220 by losing four wickets. Barbados Royals had to chase a mountainous target to reach victory.

Raheem Cornwall turned the tables and crushed the expectations of SKN Patriots of achieving their first victory. Almost scoring half of the score, he made this challenging task quite easy for his teammates.

Unfortunately, Cornwall was sent off due to injury. Rowman Powell, the Barbados’s skipper, came in the ground and finished the job in style. He scored 49 runs in 26 balls and returned with victory.
