CG United Super 50: Jamaica faces consecutive 4th defeat, collapsed at 198

Saint Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago: The Combined Campuses and Colleges got a dominating 121-run win over the Jamaica Scorpions, who faced another defeat for the 4th time in as many games in the CG United Super50 Cup.

CCC batted first and started dominating the Scorpions’ bowlers, posting a massive 320 for 7 in 48 overs. Kadeem Alleyne slammed 51 off just 30 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes, as he and Johann Jeremiah put on an opening stand worth 73. Jeremiah was dismissed for 56 off 50 with 9 fours and a six shortly after as Jamaica tried to regain some momentum.

But Demario Richards and Shane Dowrich would put on 71 to stabilise the innings before Dowrich was caught for 32. Before losing his wicket, Richards, who top-scored with 71 off 82 balls, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes, shared in a 79-run partnership with Jeremiah Johnson, who made 41 off 40 balls which featured 5 fours. Akshaya Persaud (14) and Romario Greaves (13 n.o.) capped a fantastic batting performance from the CCC.

The CCC’s excellence wasn’t done there, though, as they then proceeded to bowl out the reigning Super50 champions for 198 in 32.4 overs. Chadwick Walton’s 50 off 35 balls, which featured 8 boundaries and a six, and Odean Smith’s cameo of 35 off 20 balls, which included 5 maximums, were the only highlights in the second innings as Jamaica were dismissed to another colossal defeat.

Greaves’ 4/50 from 10 overs made him the pick of the CCC bowlers on the day as Abhijai Mansingh picked up 2/55 in 9 overs, Persaud took 2/25 in 4 overs, and Isai Thorne snagged 2/35 in 5.4 overs as they ensured that the Jamaica Scorpions, virtually, now have no chance of defending their crown.
