Castries, Saint Lucia: On Sunday, October 1, 2023, at about 1:30 PM, the Traffic Department received a report of a runoff collision along Chopin Road, Sarrot, Castries, reports Saint Lucia Police Department through his official Facebook page.
Upon arriving at the scene, investigators discovered the wreckage of a grey motor vehicle at the base of a precipice. The investigators also found a male individual lying motionless on the ground a few feet away from the vehicle. It was apparent that he had sustained injuries in the collision.
Based on initial investigations, the vehicle was observed travelling along Chopin Road when it suddenly started sliding backwards in the opposite direction of its intended path. The vehicle eventually swerved off the main road and down a steep slope.
First responders from the Saint Lucia Fire Service also responded to the report; Emergency Medical Technicians attended to the victim and subsequently transported him to the Owen King European Union (OKEU) Hospital. The victim was listed in a critical condition at the institution.
At about 4:00 PM, the investigators were contacted by medical personnel. The Officers were informed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries and had been pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.
The victim has been identified as Peter Leon, a fifty-eight- [58] year-old resident of Bexon, Castries. The Traffic Department is investigating this incident and providing more information as it becomes available.
