Dominica: Spirited competition at Inaugural South East District Cross country championship

Roseau, Dominica: In a thrilling showcase of athleticism and determination, the inaugural South East District Cross Country Championship unfolded with fierce competition and moments of pure triumph.

The participating schools – Jones Beaupierre Primary School (JBeau), Delices Primary School (Delices), and Morne Jaune Primary School (M.Jau) – fielded their best athletes for a chance at glory on the rugged cross-country course.

The spotlight of the day belonged to the young and talented athletes who pushed their limits, showcasing not only their physical prowess but also their indomitable spirit.

Among the standout performers were Reah Matthew from JBeau and Sherquan Darroux from M.Jau, who claimed the top spots in the individual girls’ and boys’ categories, respectively.

Reah Matthew exhibited exceptional speed and endurance in the girls’ division, securing the coveted 1st place. Rachel Maximae and Reah Beaupierre, also from JBeau, claimed the 2nd and 3rd positions, creating a podium sweep for their school.

The dominance displayed by JBeau’s girls was a testament to their rigorous training and commitment to excellence.

On the boys’ side, Sherquan Darroux of Morne Jaune Primary School emerged as the undeniable champion, crossing the finish line in 1st place with a combination of speed and strategic pacing.

The 2nd and 3rd places were clinched by Murphy Polydore and Djhre Pascal, both representing M.Jau, highlighting the school’s prowess in developing young male athletes.

The team competitions were equally intense, with each school vying for supremacy in both the girls’ and boys’ categories.

In a remarkable team effort, Jones Beaupierre Primary School clinched the 1st position in the girls’ team competition, reinforcing their dominance in the overall girls’ division.

Morne Jaune Primary School continued its winning streak, securing the top spot in the boys’ team category and showcasing the depth of its talent pool.

Delices Primary School demonstrated commendable teamwork, securing the 3rd position in both the girls’ and boys’ team competitions.

The spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie was evident as the students cheered for each other, celebrating the collective achievements of the South East District schools.
