T&T Red Force blow away Harpy Eagles to book place in Super50 Cup final

The Trinidad and Tobago Red Force beat the Guyana Harpy Eagles by 6 wickets on Wednesday to book their spot in Saturday’s CG United Super50 Cup final.

Red Force won the toss and asked the Harpy Eagles to bat first at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, and that proved to be a good decision as T&T bundled out Guyana for 105 in 34.3 overs.

Terrance Hinds was the leading man for T&T as he took the first 4 wickets to finish with figures of 4/15 in 4 overs.

Sherfane Rutherford top-scored with 30 and Tage Chanderpaul made 22, but wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals as the Guyana batters simply did not show up to play.

Yannic Cariah took 2/14 in 2.3 overs while Sunil Narine had impressive figures of 1/12 in 10 overs, Akeal Hosein took 1/13 in 6 overs, and a couple of mix-ups between GHE batters caused 2 runouts.

Things could have been worse for Guyana had the Red Force not dropped a few simple catches and missed a few runout opportunities.

With a meagre 106 to chase down for a spot in the final, openers Tion Webster and Kjorn Ottley set about their work. Webster made his way to 10 before he was trapped lbw by Veerasammy Permaul (1/16).

TTRF skipper Darren Bravo joined Ottley, and they added 58 together before Ottley fell lbw to Gudakesh Motie for 35 off 59 balls, which included 5 boundaries.

Motie would then strike twice more in his next over to leave the Red Force 89 for 4, removing Nicholas Pooran and Jason Mohammed with consecutive deliveries to finish with 3/20 from 7 overs.

But, the heavy lifting had already been done, and Yannic Cariah made 5 not out to finish unbeaten alongside Bravo, who made 53 from 70 deliveries laced with 8 fours, backing up his excellent century in the last game.

The T&T Red Force advanced to Saturday’s final and now await the winner of Thursday’s semifinal match between the Leeward Islands Hurricanes and the Barbados Pride.
