US Air Force Col Luke Sauter to become first Space Force permanent professor

United States: The air force academy in Colorado Springs is going to get its first permanent professor. The United States Air Force Col. Luke Sauter, class of ’02, has become the first Space Force permanent professor assigned to the Academy.

He is a member of the Space Force and the head of the school’s astronautics department and will transfer into the Space Force on Friday, April 29, at the time of a formal ceremony at the Academy.

Moreover, the U.S. Air Force Academy shared the information on its official Facebook account: “#Youracademy celebrated a milestone Friday as the United States Air Force Col. Luke Sauter, Class of ’02, transferred into the United States Space Force. The transfer means the astronautics department head becomes the first Space Force permanent professor assigned to the Academy.”

It further highlighted, “It has been an incredible point of pride for our entire astronautics department to play a role in developing space-focused officers for decades here at the academy,” said Sauter. “To say I’m incredibly honored would be an understatement.”

“Brig. Gen. Linell Letendre, dean of the faculty, says it’s important for cadets to see Guardians across the Academy as they consider their options after graduation,” As our first Space Force permanent professor, Colonel Sauter will bridge the gap between the needs of the Space Force and our curriculum as we build future leaders of character.”

Along with this, Sauter graduated from the Air Force Academy in 2002 and worked at the National Reconnaissance Office.

Apart from this, the Space Force does not have its own service academy. From the time it is the part of the Department of the Air Force, it graduates and commissions officers among the airmen at the Academy.
