Utah man accused of killing two teenagers, dumps their bodies into abandoned mine

In Utah, United States, a man has been found guilty of killing two teenagers, and then he dumped their body to an abandoned mine on Friday. The case has been ending, which was opened for over four years.

The prosecutors mentioned in the statement that the pair were killed as they were discovered hanging out with his girlfriend.

The 45-year-old named Jarrod Baum faces up to life behind bars after a jury found him guilty of two of the counts of aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping as well as the other counts in the 2017 killings after a monthlong trial.

Moreover, the dead bodies of the couple, Otteson, 17, and Riley Powell, 18, was found in a mine in Utah, the USA, that had been abandoned. The two were previously noted together on December 29, 2017, as well as were reported missing on January 2, 2018, says the officials.

The prosecutors mentioned that they died after meeting up with a friend, Morgan Lewis, on December 30 at her house in Eureka, who is a former silver mining town. While they were there, her boyfriend, Baum, returned home.

According to the report by the police officials, the horrific discovery of two teenagers was made on March 27, 2018, where they were both found with their hands tied behind their backs, and there were the injuries of stabbing present on their bodies.

Along with this, Baum was arrested one day after the discovery was made as well as was eventually charged with the first-degree murder for both of the deaths, in addition to the other felonies.

Furthermore, the prosecutor named Ryan McBride mentioned in the statement, “He retaliated against Riley and Morgan and made her watch so she would know this is what happens when you break my rules.”
