California: Indian American subjects to racially abuse another Indian American

United States: Days after, another hate crime was recorded against four ladies from the community in Texas, and an Indian-American man was racially insulted by a fellow countryman in California who called him a “filthy Hindu” and a “disgusting dog.”

In Fremont, California’s Taco Bell on August 21, Krishnan Jayaraman was verbally harassed by Singh Tejinder, 37, and the sources shared the information on August 31.

According to the Fremont Police Department, Tejinder of Union City was charged on August 29 with a hate crime that violated civil rights, assaulted, and disturbing the peace with profane language.

According to the article, Tejinder was identified as “Asian/Indian” in the charging paperwork.

On his phone, Mr Jayaraman captured the whole eight-minute rant, including the exact moment Mr Tejinder said, “You’re nasty, dog. You seem awful. Do not make a public appearance like this ever again. Mr Tejinder repeatedly used the N-word, implied that Mr Jayaraman didn’t eat meat, and shouted “beef!” in his face throughout the foul-mouthed tirade. He also branded him a “filthy Hindu.” In the footage, he seems to spit twice at Mr Jayaraman.

As per the reports, at some point, Mr Tejinder was seen saying, “This ain’t India! You…India up, and now you’re…America up.”

Additionally, Mr Jayaraman mentioned in the statement that he was shocked by the incident and was even more upset to learn later that the perpetrator was also Indian.

He shared the information, “I was frightened, to be honest with the person. I was extremely angry on the one hand, but I was afraid that what if this man becomes too belligerent and comes after me?”

Mr Jayaraman asserted, “I’m not here to pick a fight with you. What do you want? He stated you know you Hindus are a shame, disgusting. Then he spat on me,” according to the information.

Furthermore, Jayaraman emphasised that is when he, as well as the employee of the restaurant called Fremont.
