Washington: Teenager, 15, detains for allegedly shooting and injuring two fellow students

United States: A teenager, 15, was detained on Wednesday for allegedly shooting and injuring two fellow students in Washington, as per the DC police.

According to the sources, DC Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Contee stated that the shooting was recorded before at least 10 am at the intersection of Lee Street as well as 45th Street, about a block from IDEA Public Charter School.

According to the information, the victims were hospitalised in the local hospital.

The sources reported that citing school officials that they put IDEA’s 350 students as well as additional staff on lockdown as police investigated the incident in the 4500 block of Lee Street NE.

Along with this, in a separate incident, another child was also shot on Wednesday inside a building in Southeast Washington, as per the sources.

On Tuesday, United States President Joe Biden asserted that he is determined to put a stop to assault weapons in the United States in the middle of the increasing gun violence in the nation.

In addition, he went on to say he had helped ban assault weapons previously, referring to the 1994 ban he helped usher in a while serving in the United States of America Senate. In particular, Congress passed a 10-year ban on assault weapons in 1994.

However, a 19-year-old man was charged on the same day with murder in a series of random shootings over around two hours in the previous weekend in Detroit that killed three people.

Furthermore, on Sunday, the accused, Dontae Ramon Smith, murdered three people in a shooting spree that started at about 4:30 am, according to the information shared by the sources.
