California: Hundreds of people attended funeral services for four members of Indian-origin Sikh family

United States: The funeral services for four members of an Indian-origin Sikh family, including a baby girl, who was abducted and slaughtered by a man, drew hundreds of people to in the US earlier this month.

Eight-month-old Aroohi Dheri, her mother Jasleen Kaur, 36, her father Jasdeep Singh, and 39-year-old uncle Amandeep Singh were taken hostage on October 3 and reportedly murdered on October 5 by Jesus Salgado, a disgruntled former worker of their trucking firm.

Additionally, on Saturday, the Sikh family members’ funeral rites were performed in Turlock, a city in California.

Mani Grewal, a supervisor for Stanislaus County, stated that the purpose of their visit was to let the family know they weren’t fighting this battle alone.

According to the sources, “our community is considerably superior to the conduct of these two individuals who have committed horrific atrocities.”

According to friends of the victims, it will take a long time for the family and community to recover.

“I’m not sure how the family will recover from this catastrophe. It will be really challenging. Sanjeev Tewari, a family friend, stated, “We are here to assist the family.

The article stated that although community people were welcome to express their support outside of Saturday’s tribute at the Allen Mortuary event, it was solely for family.

The funeral was conducted in accordance with Sikh custom.

Along with this, according to Matthew Serratto, the top deputy district attorney for Merced County, Salgado filed a not-guilty plea in court on Thursday. He will return to court the following month. Alberto, his brother, is accused of being an accessory.

Salgado, who was detained on October 6, is accused with four charges of first-degree murder in connection with the killing of a family of Indian descent. Arson and unlawfully having a handgun are additional charges brought against him.

According to county prisoner records, Salgado, 48, is being detained under a USD 450,000 bail. It was unable to contact his attorney for comment. The case’s status hearing is scheduled on December 15.

Furthermore, the Sikh family was abducted at a place of business in Merced County, California; they were originally from Harsi Pind in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
