Texas: Man kills 22 older women, goes for trail

Texas, United States: After Mary Brooks was discovered dead on the floor of her Dallas-area condo, grocery bags from a shopping trip were still on her countertop, as per the authorities.

The authorities made the decision that the 87-year-old had died because of natural causes.

Even after her family found jewellery was disappeared, including a coral necklace she loved as well as diamond rings, it took on another woman weeks later for the police officials from Texas to reconsider.

Along with this, the following capital murder trial for Billy Chemirmir, 49-year-old, begins in Dallas on Monday in the death of Brooks, one of the 22 older women he is accused of murdering.

The charges against the 49-year-old grew in the years following his 2018 arrest, as police officials all over the Dallas area re-examined the killings of people of older age that had been considered natural, even though family members raised alarm bells about missing jewellery. About four indictments were added this summer.

Chemirmir maintained his innocence, which was convicted in the month of April of capital murder in the smothering killing of 81-year-old Lu Thi Harris as well as sentenced to life in prison without parole. He will receive the same punishment for the death of Brooks.

Along with this, his first trial in Harris’ death ended in a mistrial in the previous November when the jury deadlocked.

Loren Adair Smith, whose mother, 91, is among those charged with killing, will be among the most relatives of victims attending the trial, which, she stated, brings a “huge bag of mixed feelings.”

Smith mentioned in the statement, “Similarly of having that dread feeling, we are really glad to go back as well as bring this chapter to a close.”
