Saint Lucia: Ernest Hilaire shares results from the Black Cake and Sorrel Competition

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire, shared the results from the Black Cake and Sorrel Competition. 

He took to his official social media account and mentioned in the statement, “Here are the results from last night’s Black Cake and Sorrel Competition.”

Black Cake Competition:

1st – Team Mamai Noel – Barre st Joseph – 219 points

2nd – Team Sisterhood – Upper Ciceron – 209 points

3rd – Team Whitehouse – Firehouse – 208 points

Sorrel Competition:

1st – Claudius Joseph- Ciceron – 120 points

2nd – Bernadette Sonny – Barre St Joseph – 111 points

3rd – Stasia Emmanuel – Upper Ciceron – 105 points

Along with this, Ernest Hilaire congratulated all of the winners. 

Tourism Minister of Saint Lucia hosted the annual Black Cake and Sorrel Competition in Castries South.

 

Fruit Cakes and Sorrel drinks are traditional Saint Lucia Christmas food. Fruit cake is commonly known as “black cake” because of its most apparent colour when baked. 

Locals most appreciate Saint Lucian black cake because soaked fruits in dark rum are the main ingredient. Moreover, Claudius James Francis, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Ambassador Peter Chen and Mrs Chen were invited to taste and enjoy the great performance of Papa Vader.

The dates of the Red Door Competition and Black Cake and Sorrel Competition were announced on December 12, which are the Christmas festivals that continued in Castries South. They invited all of the citizens of Saint Lucia to give their participate in the event. 

  • Red Door Competition took place on December 17
  • Black Cake and Sorrel Competition took place on – December 18

Furthermore, the Tourism Minister of Saint Lucia invited all of the people to the sweet Solo in Barre St. Joseph on Friday, December 23, 2022, from 8 pm onwards at the Barre St. Joseph Community Centre.

He highlighted in the statement, “As we come to the peak of the Christmas festivities, come enjoy the sweet Solo in Barre St. Joseph on Friday, December 23, 2022, from 8 pm onwards at the Barre St. Joseph Community Centre. All are invited!”
