China’s territorial claim over Tibet driven from 1951 agreement: Reports

Lhasa, Tibet: China denies Tibet’s historical independence and asserts that it is a part of the mainland, adding that the legitimacy of its claims is based on an illegal agreement in 1915, as per the Tibet Press.

The 17 Point Agreement, also known as the Agreement on Measures for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet, was signed on May 23, 1951, according to the Tibet Press, by a person who had no right to act as Tibet’s representative.

As per the information shared by Asian News International (ANI), China had pledged to maintain Tibet’s cultural and religious integrity. Also, local ethnic groups’ local practices are unhindered.

As per the reports shared by the Tibet Press, the questioned agreement was signed under coercive means as well as is devoid of legal legitimacy.

However, it states that failure to support the agreement led to the 1959 Tibetan Uprising, which was crushed down as well as also prompted the 14th Dalai Lama and his followers to flee to India.

According to the Tibet Press, China has undercut the agreement that gives it authority over Tibet, but it has also made efforts to crush any hopes for freedom held by the people of Tibet in the past. The government of China has made an effort to remove Tibetan culture from the holy areas by enacting Communist policies, imposing regressive sensitization laws, and forcibly integrating its ethnic population into Tibetan regions.

The report further highlighted that the CCP- Chinese Communist Party has always tried to declare a successor to the 14th Dalia Lama, as it is an essential step on the part of the nation to integrate Tibet with itself.

Along with this, In Arunachal Pradesh, there is Tawang district marks a great value for Buddhism and Tibet. The place is native to the oldest as well as the second biggest monastery in Asia, where the Sixth Dalai Lama, named Tsangyang Gyatso, was born in 1683.

The cultural roots have led most of the Lamas to accept that the next Dalai Lama would appear out of the Tawang very well.

The reports asserted, the alleged mistreatment of the citizens of Tibet, as well as other smaller number of people from China, has gathered international attention.

As per the press report, on various occasions, the United States has mentioned that the nation has been put into effect a genocidal policy against the Uyghurs as well as the other smaller group of people, including the Turkic-speaking people.

Because of the allegations of their severe violations of prominent human rights breaches in the Tibet area, the United States of America imposed sanctions against two senior top Chinese officials. The allegations included, forced sterilization of masses and tortured killings of prisoners.
