The Religious Government Organization of USA shared their condolences towards Just De Bretenieres, a French catholic priest, missionary, martyr and saint of the Catholic Church (1838-1866), through their official Facebook account, The Voice of the Martyrs on Monday, 25 February 2023.
The organization shared a picture of Just De Bretenieres They also shared a short timeline of his life story, which stated that In February of 1866, Just de Bretenieres was detained for his work as a priest and missionary when the Korean leadership decided it was time to eradicate foreign influence.
Meanwhile, they also added that Bretenieres then attended seminary, and he then emigrated from France to follow his calling to spread the hope of Christ to different people of different nations.
On the other hand, they also added that Bretenieres and several other priests were betrayed after arriving in Korea to primarily perform ministry at night time after less than a year. They were decapitated after being transported to the beach, bound in a crimson rope signifying the seriousness of their crime. They were being tortured for several days, and at that time, Bretenieres was just 28.
One of their social media users commented, “Ningun sacrificio de heroes de la fe ha sido envano; aun hoy su entrega de amor y fe en la verdad; nos fortalice” in Spanish, which means “No sacrifice of heroes of faith has been in vain; even today their delivery of love and faith in the truth; strengthens us” At the same time, another added, “Such Christians will have a special place in the kingdom to come…right by Jesus” and the third one shared his deep condolences towards Bretenieres by commenting on the post through his official account that stated, “Sorry for their demise but Catholicism does not preach the true gospel”.
