UN has selected the former National Carnival Queen of St Kitts and Nevis, Nekirah Nicholls, to represent her country at the United Nations Youth Advisory committee for 2023. The young woman is extremely passionate and dedicated to the cause of the upliftment of the youth. The platform will give her ample opportunity to work for youth development.
St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee were proud of the young woman for getting selected. According to the official Facebook page of SKNNCC, they were thrilled about Nekirah Nicholls’s achievement. They expressed that she was passionate and dedicated to making a difference. Her drive and efforts in that direction have paid off.
At the UNYAC, she will act as the voice of her home country’s youth on the United Nations’ international platform. Accordingly, the country officer of The UN at St Kitts and Nevis, Cosbert Woods, encouraged the nation’s youth population to communicate with Nicholls and inform her about the various issues they face.
The Country Director of the UN urged the Ministry of Youth Development and the wider St Kitts and Nevis population to engage with Nekirah Nicholls on the various issues of importance for the youth. This will further help the SKN representative communicate young people’s issues on international platforms.
During the tenure of her representation, Nekirah Nicholls will provide the perspective of St Kitts and Nevis on national issues such as peace, security, human rights and sustainable development. The Former National Carnival Queen held the title for 2021-22. She has brought laurels to her country as she was the first winner of Miss Jaycees 2022 from St Kitts and Nevis in over six years. She also serves as the CARICOM youth Ambassador and representative of St Kitts and Nevis.
In her tenure as the representative of St Kitts and Nevis on various international platforms, she has added to the prestige and glory of St Kitts and Nevis, whether it is as the National Carnival Queen, or the CARICOM youth Ambassador.
