Florida: Weeki Wachee Springs State Park took to social media and highlighted the opening of the water park while welcoming the general people for Spring Break entitled “SPRING BREAK DAY TRIP” at Buccaneer Bay. The trip has been scheduled to start from 11th March to 19th March and will showcase the events such as the amazing mermaid shows, exploring river boat cruises, animal shows and Florida’s only spring-fed water park.
According to some sources, in 1947, Newt Perry, a former US Navy man, swim coach, and star swimmer who later turned to an event promoter, started a new business venture and found Weeki Wachee Springs, which was full of junk and had to be cleared at that time.
In addition to this, Newt created a way for humans to perform underwater and developed a free-flowing air hose, a method developed for breathing underwater that helped supply oxygen from an air compressor that allows the appearance of people or mermaids breathing underwater.
Initially, an 18-seat theatre was built and later converted into a capacity of 50-seat. Meanwhile, Newt sought out pretty girls and taught them to perform underwater ballet moves and other tricks. As such, the mermaid shows of Florida were born.
Furthermore, since 1947, Weeki Wachee, one of Florida’s most legendary and unique family destinations that aim to entertain millions of visitors, has been amazed and charmed by the world-famous mermaids who inhabit the spring.
In addition to live mermaid shows, Weeki Wachee Springs State Park also offers a riverboat cruise, animal shows, and Florida‘s only spring-fed water park at Buccaneer Bay, and the cost to see the mermaids at Weeki Wachee is $13 for adults, $8 for children ages 6 to 12 and Ages 5 and under are admitted free.
