Carlos Braithwaite won T20I World Cup for West Indies today in 2016

On April 3, 2016, Carlos Brathwaite’s four straight sixes secured the West Indies’ second World T20 championship. Eoin Morgan’s England achieved 155 while losing 9 wickets in the final match against West Indies at Eden’s Garden in Kolkata (India), setting the target of 156 for West Indies to win the title.

The game’s top scorer, Marlon Samuels, a Jamacian-born player in the West Indies, scored 85 in 66 balls while hitting 9 fours and 2 sixes to lead his side to victory. He delivered a standout performance in a crucial match when his side most needed it, as English all-rounder Ben Stocks dismissed West Indies openers Chris Gayle and Johnson Charles early.

After winning the toss, West Indies skipper Darren Sammy was selected to bowl first. In order to restrain Jason Roy, he chose Samuel Badree, a right-arm leg spinner.

His strategy worked because the dominant English opener was out after only confronting the second ball. By scoring 54 and 36, respectively, and successfully setting a defending target, Joe Root and Jos Buttler played an important inning for England.

The West Indies top order quickly disintegrated, making it difficult for Windies players to handle the English bowler. Important stars like Darren Sammy, Chris Gayle, Johnson Charles, and Andre Russell were all dismissed early without making much of an impact.

The West Indies batsmen were restrained by English pacer David Willey thanks to his precise length and astute delivery technique. West Indies required 19 runs in the final over of the match to win the T20 World Cup in India.

Ben Stokes Carlos Brathwaite was on strike when he was about to play Ben Stokes. His victorious four sixes against England are still vivid memories in the minds of West Indies cricket supporters.

Marlon Samuels was named the man of the match for his incredible 85 in 66 ball innings. The Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was named Man of the series.
