Michigan blogger shares glimpse of her trip to Grenada

St George, Grenada: From Michigan with love, a travel blogger from Michigan, USA, recently shares a glimpse of her tour of Grenada, the home to numerous nutmeg plantations.

She went to the Caribbean island with her family, including her husband and son, and noted that it was not her first time visiting the spice island. She wrote on her official Facebook account, “We bounced back for Grenada, and the spice island did not disappoint! This is another island we thoroughly enjoyed and had great excursions on”.

The Michigan blogger visited Annandale Fall, Grand Etang Crater Lake, Fort Frederick, and Laura Herb and Spice Gardens during her visit. Annandale Fall is fed by the river from the Grand Etang Crater Lake as it flows downstream. She admired the fall and watched the brave waterfall divers jump for tips.

The crater lake is within the Grand Etang National Park – the site of an extinct volcano that helped create the island. What makes this volcano and park unique is the presence of the 36-acre freshwater lake formed within the volcano’s crater. It was a beautiful stop for visitors who love to visit lakes and natural water bodies.

Fort Frederick offers the best views of the entire island. From here, the individual can see panoramic views of where the Atlantic Ocean all the way to the Caribbean Sea. Fort Frederick started its construction by the French in 1779 but was completed by the British.

The French chose this site aiming their cannons towards the Atlantic because that’s how they overtook the British – by attacking from within and firing down on their Fort George.

Laura Herb & Spice Gardens was the last stop to see, learn and taste some of the many spices contributing to Grenada’s reputation as a spice island.

The Michigan blogger highlighted that it was her first time tasting the pods cocoa beans come in, then breaking those open to see the raw cocoa. Additionally, she saw cinnamon, allspice, vanilla, cloves, and much more – especially nutmeg, which Grenada is most known for. A third of the world’s nutmeg supply comes from Grenada.
