Madeleine Albright, first female secretary of state, died at 84

Washington: The first female secretary of state named Madeleine Albright died at the age of 84. As per the information provided by the sources, she was a Czech immigrant who came to the United States as a child refugee.

In 1997, Albright became America’s top diplomat at the time of the Clinton government.

She was suffering from cancer, and her family member shared this information by highlighting this in a statement.

Along with this, the statement mentioned, “She was surrounded by family and friends. We lost a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.”

After the announcement of her death, former president Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton paid tribute to her. Later on, they followed in her footsteps as the Secretary of State.

Moreover, the Clintons stated, “Few leaders have been so perfectly suited for the times in which they served. Because she knew first-hand that America’s policy decisions had the power to make a difference in people’s lives around the world, she saw her jobs as both an obligation and an opportunity.”

Nato’s current Secretary-General named Jens Stoltenberg mentioned that after the announcement that Albright “was a force for freedom” as well as an “outspoken champion of Nato”.

In addition, the former US president George W Bush asserted that Albright “understood first-hand the importance of free societies for peace in our world”.

However, UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss mentioned in the tweet that the entire world “needs to stand by” the values of Albright “more than ever”.

In 1948, in the United States, she moved in the same year her family applied for political asylum. They were arguing that they were unable to return home as opponents of their nation’s communist regime.

Furthermore, in 1957, she became a USA resident.
