Oakland school: Police arrests classmates suspect of shooting 13-year-old

United States: A 13-year-old student was shot at a school in East Oakland by a classmate on Monday in the afternoon as well as the classmate was apprehended, according to the police officials.

As per the reports, the officers were called to the Madison Park Academy and discovered the 13-year-old victim suffering from a firearm shot wound.

The officers mentioned in the statement that they were also able to quickly take the alleged shooter into custody as well as recover the gun that was used.

Also, the schools were in session at the time, according to the officials mentioned.

In addition, the victim was taken to a local hospital and was in stable condition, as per the authorities.

The sobbing family members waited by the school gates, and they were anxious to reunite with their young ones.

When the incident took place, the time was around 1:30 on Monday when the students inside heard what turned out to be a gunshot.

One of the students, Roman Guerrero, mentioned in the statement, “I didn’t know how to react, so I just tried to stay as calm as possible.”

A seventh grader, Zacary Mason-Roa, said, “A loud boom went off. I thought it was firecrackers until I heard the coaches screaming.”

High school senior Roman Guerrero stated, “We knew it wasn’t a joke because the principal, her voice started shaking, and it was a lot to take in, you know?.”

The students then followed what they learned at the time of their active shooter drills. They locked the doors as well as stayed quiet.

In addition, Guerrero asserted, “Everybody was scared. We didn’t know what to do. They just told us to get under our desks and follow procedures until everything started quieting down.”

Mason-Roa said, “They informed us to call our parents, as well as they called the police. I did not know what to do.”
