Georgia confirms fifth-highest number of cases of monkeypox among states in US

United States: As of Wednesday, Georgia has 1,403 cases that were officially confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The fifth-highest of any state is that.

Transmission of monkeypox typically requires skin-to-skin or skin-to-mouth contact with the lesions of an infected patient. Additionally, exposure to bedding or clothing that has lesions from the monkeypox might spread the disease.

Researchers are still attempting to determine how frequently it can spread through contact with respiratory droplets. According to British health experts, there have been no documented cases of airborne transmission.

The majority of incidents have involved homosexual and bisexual men. Sex at two raves in Spain and Belgium most likely caused the early epidemics in Europe and North America.

However, if a person comes into contact with an infected person or objects that have touched an infected person, they might get the virus.

The Georgia Department of Public Health stated on August 15 that an online gateway for booking appointments for the monkeypox vaccination had been opened.

On the other hand, over 30 young people in the United States have tested positive for monkeypox, according to the local media citing officials.

As per the sources, about 31 children were tested positive for the virus, with about 11 states as well as jurisdictions reporting pediatric cases.

Along with this, the Texas Department of State Health Services shared the data, which shows that there are about nine cases in the state.
