East Texas is free of tornado/severe thunderstorm warnings, says Cody Gottschalk

United States: Cody Gottschalk, Meteorologist for KLTV 7/KTRE 9, from Texas, United States, shared an update on the weather in East Texas. East Texas is free of any tornado or severe thunderstorm warnings.

He took to his official social and mentioned in the statement, “Finally, a moment where East Texas is free of any tornado or severe thunderstorm warnings. We will still be watching Deep East Texas very close until the cold front moves through, taking with it the threat of severe storms.”

Temperatures are getting to drop behind the front. All of the people will enjoy a range of lower to middle 60s tomorrow in the next day.

A few showers will be possible overnight and early tomorrow morning. Skies clear out tomorrow afternoon, and people will enjoy a nice cool down for the rest of the week.

Some showers are possible Saturday, but Sunday is looking a bit drier. More scattered rain moves in Monday and Tuesday as another cold front keeps temps chilly early next week.

Along with this, a TORNADO WARNING has been issued for the following counties: Newton, Jasper, until Dec 13 at 9:30 PM.

After a warm start to December, a very strong cold front will likely arrive sometime next week and could bring some very cold air to East Texas just in time for Christmas.

Further, he highlighted, “Do NOT hold any stock on the many, many snow accumulation maps for next week that have been making the rounds on Facebook. Anyone telling you that there will likely be snow in Texas more than three days out is flat-out lying to you. However, we can grasp large upper-air movements well, and we will likely see some arctic air move in likely during the second half of next week. Be ready for some cold! We’ll be watching.”

The tornado watch has been extended until 4 AM for the counties in orange, although the severe threat will end well before that time once the cold front clears each Deep East Texas county.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for the following counties: Tyler, Jasper, and Newton until Dec 14 at 3:00 AM.

“Glad to say it is finally starting to look AND feel like December in East Texas. Cooler weather steadily moves in over the next couple of days!”
