The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, shared an update in which he appreciated the support of the US Government through his official Twitter account on Tuesday, 28 February 2023. He also mentioned that the US government put effort into strengthening and protecting their Citizenship by Investment Programme (CBI).
The update from PM Roosevelt Skerrit came after he attended the event held last week in St Kitts and Nevis. The event focused on citizenship by investment programmes of various nations. Meanwhile, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit shared his experience of the event. He added that it was a fruitful and useful engagement that puts them in a good place to continue addressing the concerns surrounding the CBI to strengthen and sustain programmes.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit participated in a meeting with leaders and senior officials of the United States Treasury Department operating the Citizenship by Investment Programme(CBI).
Furthermore, earlier also, PM Skerrit addressed a virtual meeting with several other Prime Ministers in the Caribbean region to discuss CBI programmers of various nations on Tuesday, 7 February 2023, through zoom meeting.
During the meeting, he discussed the challenges and the opportunities and appreciated the cooperation the US Government gave to strengthen Dominica’s CBI Program. He also discussed the plans to construct a track and field facility in Pointe Ronde near Portsmouth and paid his condolences to the family and relatives of Irving Shillingford, the cricketer of Dominica who passed away on 26 January 2023.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit added that he spoke with his window Mrs Elizabeth Shillingford and informed her that the government decided to accord the Late Irving Shillingford. It would be an expression of great respect and honour that the Dominican government and people hold towards the Late Irving Shillingford, which was held on Friday, 10 February 2023.
On the other hand, the CBI Programme of Dominica has been ranked 1st for the past six years on the platform of the CBI index under the supervision and by the great efforts shown by PM Roosevelt Skerrit. He is still taking significant steps to boost the Citizenship by Investment Programme (CBI) of the country.
