The Cardin Home orientation session welcomed ten new staff members who assistance care for the ‘beloved’ residents on Friday, February 17, 2023. They added that the new senior care assistants had completed the course of the elderly care certificate, which the Division of Health Sciences organized at Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC).
The Cardin home also highlighted the celebration of 96 years of existence, which will be held in May of 2023, regarding the growth and evolution of the foremost elderly care facility on St Kitts. The new support staff also ensure that their residents receive the highest care level.
Principal Nursing Officer, Dr Rondalyn Dennis-Bradshaw also puts contribution in the session by adding that Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Dr Terrance Drew, is exemplifying how the institution’s objectives are being preserved by the Ministry of Health in today’s time, including the inhabitants of this Cardin Home and considerable investment is also done in the care of the older adults and assured the new changes regarding proper, respectful, safe and dignified, compassionate and respectful care for the residents.
Furthermore, the Director of Health Institutions, Dr Jenson Morton added, “The orientation session will help in reminding the new elderly care assistants that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity, especially the residents of the Cardin Home, as they are the representative of the most impoverished groups of our society.”
Meanwhile, the senior nursing staff members also expressed their excitement about joining the team at Cardin Home and also started building relationships with the residents; the ministry of health also made a commitment that the Cardin Residence will acquire and install ten new mattresses with two new bed frames, and 24 new chairs for delivering the best standard of care to residents with ongoing deep cleaning and pressure washing of the exterior of buildings on the compound including removal and disposal of some pieces of obsolete disposal and removal of some antiquated equipment.
