Trinidad and Tobago: More Firearms, Ammo Seized in Santa Cruz

Between 1 pm and 7 pm, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and the Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB) conducted a joint operation in a forested area in Santa Cruz, supervised by Senior Superintendent Roger Alexander and senior Superintendent Elie, respectively, along with the Canine Unit.

They seized various items during the operation, including Firearms and Ammo Seized. “The strategies and the Violent Crime Reduction Plan are working, and I have every confidence that as we continue to update our strategies and implement our plans, we will continue to get the desired results. ”

Commissioner of Police, Erla Christopher, said this as she commented on another critical illegal firearm and ammunition seizure, which took place during an exercise in Santa Cruz today.

The Commissioner stated that this seizure would significantly impact the incidence of violent crimes committed with the use of firearms, such as homicides and home invasions. He thanked and commended the officers for their bravery and dedication to keeping the nation safe. He also expressed gratitude to the public, especially those who report suspicious activity.

The Commissioner stated that they would continue to maintain their intensity in the seizure of illegal firearms and relentlessly pursue those involved in criminal activity.

Four AK-47 Rifles
• One 50cal Desert Eagle
• One 45 Revolver
• Two Shotguns
• 23 rounds 5.56 ammunition
• 38 Assault Rifle Magazines
• 91 Lower receivers
• An assortment of assault rifle parts
• Several items of police kits
• Four Police Bulletproof Vests
• Blue Swivel Lights
